Flower Bluff Defeats Weslaco East 49-14 in District Showdown

The Flower Bluff Hornets overpowered the Weslaco East Wildcats with a decisive 49-14 victory in Friday’s district showdown at Bobby Lackey Stadium.
Each team came into the contest undefeated, and hungry for another victory on the gridiron.
The Hornets struck early, opening with a long touchdown pass and quickly following up with another score after forcing a Weslaco East (4-1), (2-1) turnover. By the end of the first quarter, Flower Bluff (6-0), (4-0) had established control of the game 28-0, leaving the Wildcats struggling to catch up.
Despite Weslaco East’s attempts to mount a comeback, the Hornets’ relentless offense and solid defense proved too much to handle. Flower Bluff maintained their undefeated record, while Weslaco East suffered their first loss of the season in a tough battle between district powerhouses.
Flower Bluff’s early in the first quarter sting, set the tone for a dominant performance against Weslaco East. Their momentum continued as they capitalized on three more scores.
Punching in touchdowns for the Wildcats were Freshman Malachi Rodriguez and Jianni Ortiz. Despite Weslaco East’s attempts to rally, Flower Bluff’s fast start ultimately proved too much to overcome in this key district showdown at Bobby Lackey Stadium.
The Wildcats host on Donna North on Friday October 18. with a 7:30 p.m. kickoff.
