Shots Fired at Bobby Lackey Stadium: Juvenile Taken into Custody

On Friday, October 4, 2024, at approximately 9:04 PM, the Weslaco Police Department responded to multiple reports of shots fired near Bobby Lackey Stadium, located at 784 N Westgate Dr. Officers arrived on the scene and made contact with the reporting party, learning that the suspects had already fled the area, and there was no longer a threat to attendees of the football game.

To ensure public safety, additional resources from the Weslaco Police Department and Texas DPS were called in for heightened security measures.

Later that night, just before midnight, Weslaco police apprehended a juvenile suspect involved in the incident. The juvenile is facing charges of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a minor. The suspect was transported to the Hidalgo County Juvenile Detention Center.
