The Weslaco Panthers delivered a dominant performance at Bobby Lackey Stadium on Friday night, overcoming the Laredo LBJ Wolves with a decisive 27-8 victory.
Running back Chris Luna was the standout performer for the Panthers, punching in three touchdowns that proved crucial to the team’s triumph. Luna’s impressive display of power and agility on the field was a key factor in Weslaco’s success. His ability to find the end zone on multiple occasions kept the Panthers firmly in control throughout the game.
In addition to Luna’s offensive fireworks, defensive back JD Martinez made a game-changing play with a 55-yard interception return for a touchdown. Martinez’s interception not only thwarted a potential scoring drive by the Wolves but also added an electrifying moment to the Panthers’ home crowd.
The Panthers’ defense also played a significant role in the game, effectively containing the Laredo LBJ offense and limiting their scoring opportunities. The team’s cohesive effort on both sides of the ball ensured that the Wolves’ attempts to close the gap were thwarted at every turn.
